This post has been titled sitting in draft since July 31st 🙂 and to be honest the title originally was “Tracking it IS the most important step in reaching any goal”
I was going to write about how you have to keep track of where you started and the items or activities that you have done to reach your document goal. And it does help – really. But since that day – I have truly found THE single most important step in reaching any goal: Starting.
Reading, researching, planning, thinking and mulling over will get you NOWHERE fast.
I had a couple ah-ha moments this weekend in how I view my life and the things going on in it. I am 100% grateful for all I have – and I know I have a lot, but… There is always the BUT. But I should be doing more. But I should be thinner. But I should be doing better in my business. But I should….
My sister came over to help me with my sewing machine. She has the same one and has had it longer so she knows how to do things I have not learned yet. Reduce my learning curve by learning from her 🙂 She was watching her grand kids and they came down to the basement with us. We have a small really small but good air hockey table that my husband choose for his 25 year anniversary gift through work. They were pretty geeked about that. “You have an air hockey table?” So I set it up for them to play and turned on the TV for them while we went in the sewing room. After a while we were finished with the lesson and came out talking about other things. The topic of money came up. The cost of something – and I said “Oh, I don’t have the money for that.” My great nephew says “Aren’t you rich? I mean look at all of this {waving his arms around at the basement} and you have a pool.” I laughed and smiled and said no. We are not rich, not everything is as it appears to the rest of the world.
Later last night I was showing my son’s fiance’ my material stash. And she’s in awe and almost under her breath she says you have so much 🙂 In my defense – it’s not nearly as much as some really focused quilters – but I do have more than enough to complete at least two maybe three quilts before I need to buy anything more.
Those two events on top of everything else I have been working on kind of knocked a few screws into place. A) I do have sooo much. Not just material, but everything. An amazing husband, wonderful children and their significant others that love them, an amazingly cute grandson, a job that is to die for, a house that is in a nice neighborhood – even if it snows 4 out of the 12 months in the year. I have a smart new puppy that is learning more and more each day. And I have a business that is MINE. I am the owner and CEO. I have only myself to blame for where it is or isn’t going.
I have bought more books than I can shake a stick at, programs to help me with this blog site, I read and re-read the same information. I share quotes that inspire me and I hope will inspire others. But inspiration without action are just words. Words on paper or computer screens can do nothing alone. I have to give them meaning and life 🙂
So I’m doing that. One of my favorite quotes is “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.” ~ John C. Maxwell
I’m done playing small and letting what I believe others think of me determine my actions. I am eating Keto. I am not tracking anything for a while just to get some issues out of my head. I am working out at lunch – not a specific program, but something I’m thinking might work for a while. My combination of programs to break up the routine. It’s all going to be a yes – no ledger. I either did or didn’t 🙂 I joined Planet Fitness last month to use the treadmills. Does that mean I do not believe in my products? Nope! I think every program we have is amazing and we have just about any program to fit most anyone’s preferences. But I want to start running again and I like knowing how fast and how far I have gone 🙂 so the road is not really my thing. I want to do 5k’s again and maybe a 10k but I need a treadmill to train for that over and above my DVD workouts.
I love where I am going with my life. I walk around with a smile on my face. I see people hugging and having conversations and it makes me happy. I want to do what I can to make life good for those around me, even if it is just be nice and be the smile they needed that day. I am volunteering for Habitat for Humanity next month through work and I hope to get some information to learn how to do it myself on my free time and not as part of a group. This is a big one for me – I don’t do anything alone LOL But it’s important to me so I need to get outside my head and go help.
I am going to be launching a couple new groups monthly. And you know what? I know some people HATE Facebook so I am thinking I will add a forum to this site where we can gather and support each other. I actually have lots of plans – here is where the ACTION part starts.
You have a great night! I am going to make dinner for my husband and take the dog for a walk.
Come back soon!
